Are Dental X-rays Safe?

There is minimal risk in dental X-rays. Our office is equipped with digital imaging technologies for reduced radiation exposure to our patients.  Pediatric Dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation exposure to children. Lead aprons and digital sensors are used to ensure safety and minimize your child’s exposure. You actually encounter more radiation walking to your car on a sunny day than you would from a dental x-ray. There is a much higher risk in undetected and undiagnosed dental disease and cavities than in taking x-rays every 6-12 months.
